If the official YouTube application does not meet your needs, consider one of these alternatives.
TVs and set-top boxes
- YouTube for Android TV — the official remote-friendly YouTube application. Requires Android 7.0 or newer.
- SmartTube — a client with built-in proxy support. Requires Android 4.3 or newer.
- TizenTube Cobalt — removes ads and sponsored segments. Requires Android 7.0 or newer.
Patched YouTube
- YouTube ReVanced. ReVanced Manager simplifies downloading and updating ReVanced and MicroG. revanced.app is the official website. Requires Android 8.0 or newer.
- Morphe — an alternative patch project from developers who previously created YouTube and YouTube Music modifications. Requires Android 9.0 or newer.

NewPipe and its variants
- NewPipe — a YouTube client that does not depend on Google libraries. Google account sign-in is not available. Requires Android 5.0 or newer.
- BravePipe — a NewPipe fork with SponsorBlock, improved search and sorting, and Google Takeout subscription import. Android 4.4 support is unverified.
- PipePipe — a NewPipe fork with additional services, client features, and fixes. Requires Android 5.0 or newer.
- Tubular — a NewPipe fork with SponsorBlock and Return YouTube Dislike. Requires Android 5.0 or newer.
SkyTube
- SkyTube Extra — a lightweight YouTube player with support for the official player and Chromecast. Requires Android 4.4 or newer.
- SkyTube — a free YouTube client that does not require Google Play Services. Requires Android 4.4 or newer.
- SkyTube Legacy Extra — the legacy Extra version for Android 4.0 or newer.
- SkyTube Legacy — the legacy free client for Android 4.0 or newer.
Privacy-focused clients
Warning
These applications depend on third-party instances. The instances may be blocked differently from YouTube and may need to be unblocked separately.
- FreeTube Android — uses the Invidious API. Requires Android 7.0 or newer.
- LibreTube — uses the Piped API, does not require a YouTube account or Google services.
- Mini YouTube — an Invidious-based client from SelfEco for Android 2.2 or newer. An unverified fork claims HTTP proxy support but must be built manually.
- notPipe — a client for Android 1.5 or newer that uses Invidious, yt2009, and YtAPILegacy.

- VueTube — a Vue-based client with SponsorBlock and Return YouTube Dislike. Requires Android 5.0 or newer and may not support Android 12.1 or newer.
- Namida — a music and video player with YouTube support.
- YT PRO — a lightweight wrapper for
m.youtube.com. Requires Android 5.0 or newer. - NouTube — combines YouTube and YouTube Music, supports background playback, and removes ads.
- pstube — watches and downloads videos without ads.
Proprietary applications
- PureTuber — a NewPipe-based client with a different interface and Google account sign-in. Requires Android 4.4 or newer.
